About Me

I was born and raised in Asakusa, a historic downtown district in Tokyo. Growing up surrounded by people with a shitamachi kishitsu—a downtown spirit known for being cheerful, straightforward, loyal, and warm-hearted—was a blessing. I am truly grateful to have spent my childhood in such a vibrant and human-centered part of Tokyo.

More than half a century has passed, and now I am a grandfather enjoying a slower pace of life. During my career in international marketing at a Japanese electronics company, I had many opportunities to observe and analyze lifestyles in different countries. Through this experience, I developed a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the subtle differences that shape people’s daily lives.

Now in retirement, I’ve turned my focus inward—toward my own country and culture. I hope to share with you the ordinary yet rich aspects of Japanese life, seen through my eyes and experiences. Let’s explore Japanese culture and everyday life together on this blog.
